At the KRAKUS Senior Club, operating under the Polish and Slavic Center, a remarkable art exhibition titled “Kazimierz Pułaski – Hero of Freedom” took place, prepared by participants of the Art Class KRAKUS under the artistic guidance of Agnieszka Nowińska. The event was organized as part of the celebrations of the 88th Pulaski Day Parade, aiming to honor a hero of two nations – Poland and the United States – and to show how art can serve as a means of preserving historical memory and Polish American identity.
Kazimierz Pułaski, often called the Father of American Cavalry, dedicated his life to the fight for freedom. His story inspired the participants to create works full of symbolism, emotion, and personal reflection on patriotism, courage, and the meaning of the word “freedom.” With dedication and great sensitivity, the seniors prepared moving artistic compositions combining Polish and American national motifs, giving them their own individual interpretation.
The Art Class KRAKUS once again proved that creativity has no age limits, and that art can become a bridge connecting generations. For many participants, preparing the exhibition was not only an artistic process but also a deeply personal experience that strengthened their sense of national pride and connection to shared history. As class instructor Agnieszka Nowińska emphasizes, sharing artistic passion with seniors is an incredibly rewarding experience, and every piece created is not only an artwork but also a testimony of memory and heart.
The exhibition was met with great appreciation and warm reception from visitors. It became not only a presentation of talent but also a beautiful testament to unity and community among the Polish diaspora in New York. Thanks to such events, history ceases to be just a record in textbooks — it becomes alive, present, and collectively experienced.
The KRAKUS Senior Club and the Polish & Slavic Center extend their heartfelt thanks to all class participants for their creativity and commitment, and to Agnieszka Nowińska for her professional artistic guidance, inspiration, and remarkable creative sensitivity. The exhibition “Kazimierz Pułaski – Hero of Freedom” showed that art can be not only a form of expression but also a powerful tool for preserving national memory and strengthening Polish American identity.
