On August 22nd, a group of seniors from the JP2 Friendship Center in the East Village, operating at the Polish-Slavic Center, went on a trip to the Shiva Theater/Public Theater on the Astor Place. During the Shakespeare Festival, the city hosted a unique collection of costumes from Shakespeare's plays performed in NYC between 1966 and 1999. Seniors could admire costumes from plays such as "Hamlet," "Romeo and Juliet," "Macbeth," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream," including Patrick Stewart's costumes and the famous creations of Maryl Streep. The evolution of fashion over the last three decades of the 20th century was fascinating. We share a report from this trip. The weather and spirits were great for our seniors! We invite you to the ticket raffles at the Public Theater, and we thank the Public Theater, located next to our club, for this exhibition. Perhaps some of our seniors will also win this morning's lottery and go to see more legendary Shakespeare productions at the Public Theater/Central Park in the future. We recommend it and share the photo report.![]()
